Welwyn Garden City Golf Club has long been associated with junior golfers, being the Club where Sir Nick Faldo and Tom Lewis, to name only two, developed their games before becoming professionals who would make their mark on a global scale.
We are now looking to develop the next generation of junior champions, and are well on the way to doing that, with one member who plays in the England Under-16 squad, and who became our youngest-ever Club Champion in 2018, going on to retain the title in 2019. Another junior member is a Hertfordshire County regular who, at 12 years old, has won the junior Club Championship for the last two years and plays off a handicap of 6.
In addition to the Junior Club Championship our Junior Section has regular medal and stableford competitions during the year.
We now have new ways for juniors to get involved in golf, with Golf Access designed to introduce a pathway into golf, getting players onto the course earlier, so they can see how much fun the game can be.
